One-on-One Counseling

Someone across the table who has been there

Private sessions built around the Six Steps, working on your own situation rather than a general one. No group, no waiting for the next retreat date, no performing for anybody.

If what you are carrying feels too raw for a room full of people, this is where to start. Most people do.

What a session is actually like

Not open-ended talking

You bring something real — an argument last week, a reaction you did not like, a fear that will not leave. Your facilitator walks the Six Steps with you on that specific thing. You leave with a process, not just a conversation.

You bring the moment

Something that happened, not a summary of your childhood. The smaller and more recent, the better it works.

You are walked through

Step by step, at your pace. Nobody rushes step two, and nobody decides your belief for you.

You leave able to repeat it

The aim is your independence, not your return. Most people run the steps alone within a few sessions.

The difference people notice

You are being trained out of needing us

Diederik's own description of how he works: every client recognizes immediately that they are being trained to become independent of their counsellor — that they are worthy of respect, and that they have their own answers.

That is unusual, and it is deliberate. A facilitator you need indefinitely is a facilitator with a business model. The Six Steps are written down precisely so you can eventually do this without us.

Clients also tend to sense something else quite quickly — that the person opposite them has been in most of the places they are describing. Diederik has personal knowledge of deep depression and substance abuse. He is not shocked, and neither are the facilitators he trained.

"I struggled with alcoholism, severe depression and couldn't find a way out of the continuous dark story I was telling myself. Never have I encountered a more effective process in dealing with core beliefs and how they shape my view of the world."

Nathan Markee — Canada

"For me, this process and work has saved my life and sanity. A true gift!"

Priya Beate Laasch — Canada

Who comes for this

Counseling suits you if

What you are carrying feels too private for a group, at least for now.

You need to start now rather than wait for the next retreat.

You want to work on one specific relationship or decision.

You went to a retreat and want support keeping hold of what shifted.

Travel is not realistic — cost, health, work, or people who depend on you.

You would rather test this quietly before committing to anything larger.

Being straight with you

What this is not

It is not psychotherapy, and it does not replace it.

Choose Again facilitators are trained in this specific method, and that is what a session is. If you are seeing a therapist, keep seeing them — many people do both, and they are not in competition.

It is not medical care, and we will never advise you on medication.

Anything to do with prescriptions is between you and your prescriber. Please do not change anything because of something you read here.

It is not emergency support.

If you are in crisis right now or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US. That is more urgent than anything on this page, and we would tell you the same on the phone.

Getting started

One conversation first, at no cost

Before anything is booked or paid for, you talk to a person about what is going on. You do not need to arrive with it worked out, and nothing you bring will be too much.

No obligation, no sales script, and nobody will chase you afterwards.
