For Therapists, Coaches, Clergy & HR
The client who has done the work, and is still stuck
You know the one. They can name the pattern, trace its origin, and describe it more articulately than you can. And they are still living inside it.
This page is written for you rather than for them — so you can decide whether this is worth mentioning.
First, the boundary
This is not treatment, and it does not replace you
Choose Again is not clinical care and does not replace it. Our facilitators are trained in one specific method — the Six Steps to Freedom — and that is what they offer, whatever other qualifications any of them may hold.
A client who comes to us keeps working with you. Many people do both, and we will say so plainly if anyone asks us whether they should stop. We do not advise on medication and we do not diagnose. If someone is in acute crisis, they need clinical support first, and we will say so.
If that is not how a referral partner usually behaves, it is worth a conversation before you send anyone.
What we actually do
A process, not a conversation
The Six Steps take a single present-day reaction and work backwards from it to the belief producing it — then through a defined forgiveness process to a deliberate replacement. It is repeatable, it is written down in a book, and the explicit aim is that the person can run it without us.
You will recognize the underlying model. What tends to be different is the insistence on step four — that the client is the author of the meaning they assigned, rather than only the recipient of what happened. Handled carelessly that lands as blame. Handled properly it is the step that returns agency, and it is the one people often name as the turn.
Tends to suit
Long-term clients who have plateaued at insight
People who intellectualize as a defense
Recurrent relational patterns across partners
Long-carried grief, guilt or resentment
High-functioning people who feel nothing
Please do not send
Anyone in acute crisis or at risk
Anyone who needs clinical treatment they are not getting
Anyone being sent rather than choosing to come
If you are unsure which side of the line someone falls on, call us and we will talk it through with you.
Ways to refer
Start small. It costs them nothing.
You do not have to recommend a retreat to recommend this. The daily meditation and the practice guide are both free, and neither requires the client to speak to anybody.

The whole method in print. Choose Again: The Six Steps to Freedom can sit on a table until someone is ready, which is often easier than a conversation.

The people who need this rarely raise their hand
They are usually the reliable ones. The person everyone depends on, who has not taken a real vacation in three years and would be mortified to be described as struggling.
An assistance program they have to ask for does not reach that person. Something they can read privately, at their own pace, sometimes does. We are glad to talk about how this sits alongside what you already offer.
